For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel from faith to faith, just as it is written, “the righteous by faith will live.” Romans 1:16-17 NKJV
Paul tells us why he is unashamed of the gospel and eager to preach it, not only in Rome (1:15), but everywhere he goes. The reason is that the gospel is the power of God to save everyone who believes; it is the very revelation of the righteousness of God!
1:16 Paul says that he is not ashamed of the gospel for it is God’s power to save the person who believes, whether Jew or Gentile (though the Jew had special privilege in the outworking of God’s plan)
What is the gospel of Christ?
The gospel is the good news of how to be saved---the good news of man’s REDEMPTION.
"the gospel is the joyous proclamation of God's redemptive activity in Christ Jesus on behalf of man enslaved by sin."
God’s purpose in giving the Gospel is to change man's destination in eternity and his life here on earth as well.

I. The FACTS of the Gospel that We Must Believe.
A. The gospel is the good news that God sent His Son into the world to live among men-He knew man’s weaknesses-sorrows-He knew man’s condition in SIN
The gospel is the perfect life, atoning death, and resurrection of Jesus-which is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes
Heb. 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
B. These facts include the death, burial and resurrection of Christ
1 Cor. 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
Rom. 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9
II. The COMMAND of the Gospel that We Must Obey
Believe-a change of Mind.
Repent- a change of lifestyle.
Confess- a change of Allegiance
Baptized- a change of Relationship.
Heb. 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Lk. 13:3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise Perish
The only way the gospel can transform the lives of men is when it is OBEY!
III. The BLESSING of the Gospel That the Saved Enjoy
1. Forgiveness of sins.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
When we obey the gospel ALL of our past sins are forgiven
2. Fellowship of the church.
Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
3. The Promise of Eternal life.
2 Tim. 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
IV. The Gospel Contains Warnings that We Must HEED.
1 Cor. 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
Heb. 2:3-4 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
Conclusion:
-Obey the gospel and be saved. Mt. 28:19-20
-Those who do not obey will be lost
2 Th. 1:7-9 7 and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels 8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might
