Introduction:

What kind of gift would it have to be.. ..to be called Indescribable? Would it be a gift that you open and look at and say, wow so beautiful. NO

"Have you ever received an indescribable gift?" Have you ever received a gift that was Beyond Description?

2 Corinthians 9:15. It is a short verse, only 8 words long. Listen as the apostle Paul says, "Thanks Be to God for His Indescribable Gift!"

Why Does Paul Call Jesus "Indescribable?"

The context of the verse is Paul was encouraging the church in Corinth to give a financial gift to support the struggling Christians in Jerusalem. These Jewish believers were facing severe financial consequences because of their faith. Paul appealed to their generosity on the basis of “God’s indescribable gift”. He says that after what God had done for them, generosity toward each other should come easily.

In 2 Corinthians 9, Paul at first is writing about human gifts. The church in Corinth is taking up offerings to give to the poor Christians in Jerusalem. He commends them for their eagerness to help, & reminds them that those who sow sparingly will also reap sparingly, but that those who sow generously will reap generously.

Then he shifts his attention from human gifts to God’s gift of sending Jesus to earth for us. And he cannot find words to describe that. He simply says, "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift."

John 3:16 tells us very plainly what God’s gift to us is, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” God gave His Son out of His love for the world.

PROP. Now Paul said, "Thanks be unto God for His indescribable gift." Why does Paul call Jesus "indescribable?" I think there are reason

1. The Reason is the Nature of the Gift. (because of His Nature)

Paul calls Jesus "indescribable" because of His nature. How do you describe Jesus? How do you describe a baby born of a virgin? How do you describe the Word, who was God becoming flesh?

A. The Indescribable Is Jesus. . Jesus described Himself as being one with God the Father- the scriptures tells everywhere and testifies to the fact that Jesus is the indescribable gift.

First of all, I believe that Paul calls Jesus "indescribable" because of His nature. How do you describe Jesus?

How do you describe a baby born of a virgin? How do you describe God in flesh, walking upon our earth & reaching out to the hurting masses of humanity?

Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, (Gal 1:4 NKJV)

Philippians 2:6-7 NIV - Who being in very nature God did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

"Thanks be to God for His indescribable/UNSPEAKABLE gift."

Unspeakable means (from Strong's Concordance): Beyond description; inexpressible.

Inexpressible (from the American Heritage Dictionary) means: Impossible to express; indescribable.

Indescribable (from the American Heritage Dictionary) means: Impossible to describe; exceeding description; inexpressible

Jesus Christ, the Gift beyond description
You are beautiful beyond description
Too marvelous for word
so wonderful for comprehension
There's nothing ever seen or heard
Who can grasp your infinite wisdom?
Who can fathom the depth of your love

Jesus is beautiful beyond any description. He made it all, He saves us and gave us new life to live.. No words can compare how much. He offered everything just to make us free from the bondage of sin.

Jesus Christ, the Gift Beyond Description.

1 Timothy 2:6 WHO GAVE HIMSELF A RANSOME FOR ALL.

The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,

And to give his life as a ransom for many. - Mark10:45

The gift is indescribable not only because of who Jesus is, but also because of what He has done.

WHILE WE STILL SINNERS (ENEMIES) Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8

Can you Imagine, that the indescribable gift is not for His friend-

To every one of us, suffering, as we and the world are under the destructive power of sin, God offer His gift of INDESCRIBABLE”- grace.

Christmas does not offer rejoicing to a selected few; and it cries out “joy to the world!”

The assurance is that “Christ Jesus came into the world” not to build big and costly places of worship, not to give his followers earthly power and rule but to “SAVE SINNERS”

For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Rom. 5:10

God offer His gift of INDESCRIBABLE”- Grace.

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.“ 2 Cor. 9:15

the world  - the greatest number
that He gave  - the greatest act
His only Begotten Son  - the greatest gift
that whosoever  - the greatest invitation
believeth  - the greatest simplicity
in Him  - the greatest Person
should not perish  - the greatest deliverance
but  - the greatest Opportunity
have  - the greatest certainty
everlasting life.  - the greatest possession

Have You Ever Received an Indescribable Gift?"

Have you ever received a gift that Is beyond description?

A Gift that Beyond Description?- Jesus
