Mothers' Day is a beautiful time to remember and celebrate the woman who have given birth, nurtured their children, and left a profound legacy of Christlikeness.

And yet, this day isn't always that simple. It's a day of joy, but for some it's also a day of pain. It's a day of celebration, but for some it's also a day of longing and grief.

The story of Mother’s day is the story of firm determination of a daughter, Anna Jarvis who resolved to pay tribute to her mother, Anna M Jarvis and all others mothers of the world. Anna Jarvis dedicated her life to fulfill her mother’s dream of the recognition of day for honoring mothers. Though never a mother herself, Founder of Mother's Day, Anna Jarvis is today recognised as the 'Mother of Mother’s day'. An apt title to define the remarkable woman's ceaseless devotion to her mother and motherhood in general.

So on May 9, 1914 President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the mother’s day celebration every second Sunday of May,

The word “extraordinary” is defined as: “going far beyond the ordinary degree, measure, limit, etc.; very unusual; exceptional; remarkable” (Webster’s New World College Dictionary)

Extraordinary mothers are remarkable because they go beyond what is ordinary.

22 Listen to your father; without him you would not exist. When your mother is old, show her your appreciation. Proverbs 23:22 GNT

Proverbs 30:11

11 There are people who curse their fathers and do not show their appreciation for their mothers.

The person who gave life, fed us in their womb, and nursed us from her breast IS NOT WAITING FOR ANY RECOMPENSE.

Example: A mother worked for a rich family WASHING CLOTHES by hands. The employer gave her snacks and she said Mrs. I will bring home the snacks you gave me so my children can share it among themselves.

A poor mother said, my loan will pay for the hospital and doctor bills of my child---- BUT I WILL REPAY IT BY WORKING FOR YOU.

The Bible teaches of what makes a mother extraordinary.

Proverbs 31:28-29 Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: "Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all."= “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.

A child without a mother is like a door without a knob - Jewish Proverb

1. Extraordinary Mothers Love Their Husband.

  1. She understands her role as a faithful wife and helper to her husband.

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.

  2. She is a woman who devotedly submits to her husband’s headship.

Ephesians 5:22-24 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

  3. She steadfastly stands with her husband no matter what.

Proverbs 31:12 She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.

  4. As a result, her husband trusts in her and she is a great example to her children

Proverbs 31:11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain.

2. Extraordinary Mothers Cherish All There Is To Being “Mom.”

  1. She diligently trains her children in the laws (teachings) of God.

    Proverbs 1:8 My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother;

  2. She does not forsake her God-given role as a teacher.

Proverbs 29:15 The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.

  3. She wants her children to love the Lord first and foremost.

    Matthew 22:37-38
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment.

As a result, her children honor her.

Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise: "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."

An extraordinary mother is a great example that her children will learn from and cherish all the days of their life.

Proverbs 31:28-29 Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: "Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all."

Conclusion:

  1. There are many moms in this world: Most of them are honored every Mother’s day by their children.
  2. But what makes a mother extraordinary (unusual or exceptional), is that she exemplifies the qualities that please our heavenly Father!
  3. To all of you extraordinary Mothers in the audience this morning, thank you for your love, devotion, loyalty, and service to God, your husband, and your children.

May we all learn and become better Christians by your wonderful example

Mothers.

God bless to all the Mothers. Happy mother’s day.

Proverbs 31:10-31:
10 How hard it is to find a capable wife! She is worth far more than jewels!
11 Her husband puts his confidence in her, and he will never be poor. 12 As long as she lives, she does him good and never harm. 13 She keeps herself busy making wool and linen cloth. 14 She brings home food from out-of-the-way places, as merchant ships do.
15 She gets up before daylight to prepare food for her family and to tell her servant women what to do.
16 She looks at land and buys it, and with money she has earned she plants a vineyard.
17 She is a hard worker, strong and industrious.
18 She knows the value of everything she makes, and works late into the night.
19 She spins her own thread and weaves her own cloth.
20 She is generous to the poor and needy. 21 She doesn't worry when it snows, because her family has warm clothing.
22 She makes bedspreads and wears clothes of fine purple linen.
23 Her husband is well known, one of the leading citizens.
24 She makes clothes and belts, and sells them to merchants.
25 She is strong and respected and not afraid of the future.
26 She speaks with a gentle wisdom.
27 She is always busy and looks after her family's needs.
28 Her children show their appreciation, and her husband praises her.
29 He says, “Many women are good wives, but you are the best of them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive and beauty disappears, but a woman who honors the Lord should be praised.
31 Give her credit for all she does. She deserves the respect of everyone
