TEXT: Luke 19:10. 10 “for the Son of Man has come to “Seek” and to “Save” that which was “Lost.”

Illustration: A young couple, both blind, were walking arm in arm across a busy intersection, with cars whizzing by in every direction. Each tapped the pavement with a white cane as they attempted to cross the street. To the horror of all who witnessed it, the blind couple began veering into the middle of the intersection. Oblivious to the danger, they were walking directly into the path or way of oncoming cars.

Then every car in every direction came to a simultaneous stop. A driver stuck his head out of his car and yelled, TO YOUR RIGHT! (3X). Other people join in SHOUTING, TO YOUR RIGHT!

Without missing a step, the couple turned back to the right and got back on course, tapping with their canes and listening to the shouts from the fellow players in this drama. They made it to the other side of the road without incident, still arm in arm!

The story give a lot of lesson with regards Christ MISSION. Indeed we are marching off a cliff to certain death so in this illustration teach us with the urgency of all the drivers trying to keep the blind couple from getting killed.

2,000 years ago Jesus shouted to humanity needs to be saved- TURN RIGHT! TURN RIGHT!

Is humanity really Lost? WE ARE NOT SINNERS BECAUSE WE SIN. WE SIN BECAUSE WE ARE SINNERS.

Our text clearly says Luke 19:10.10for the Son of Man has come to “Seek” and to “Save” that which was “Lost.”

Jesus knew whom he choose. Before Jesus departed to His heavenly throne to take His position as Lord and Christ, He spent a final time with His eleven disciples. The last command that He gave them was this:

Matthew 28:18-20 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age"

Mark 16:15-16; 15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Luke 24:46-47 46and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would Suffer and Rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that Repentance for Forgiveness of sins would be Proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

1. We Must “GO”. It’s Time to Go Reaching People for Christ

Our task and our mission is to proclaim the living Christ, and as we faithfully do that, God builds His church!

Our task and urgent mission is to warn all those without Christ that they are rushing to their eternal doom.

Remember, all who are without Christ are lost!

And What Does GO Mean? Walk off, move out, take off, travel, move, go away, reach, extend, lead to, stretch, spread.

Mat. 28:18-20; “Go therefore” - Mark 16:15-16“Go”

47 “Would be Proclaimed in His Name”- Luke 24:46-47 46 and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would Suffer and Rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that Repentance for Forgiveness of sins would be Proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

The Great Commission: Mat. 28:18-20 Jesus here states His authority for the command (18)

Mark 16:15-16 “Go.” is not an optional command “Go Ye Means Me”

Luke 24:46-47 If something is to be proclaimed, then one to proclaim it is necessary

Rom. 10:12-15 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

2. We Must Go To “All Creation” With “The Gospel”

Matthew 28:18-20 Make disciples of all the nations.”

Mark 16:15-16 Preach the gospel to all creation.”

Luke 24:46-47 “to all the Nations.”

3. We Must Go To “Make Disciples” By “Baptizing Them” For The “Remission Of Sins”

Matthew 28:18-20 baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

Mark 16:15-16 He who has Believed and has been baptized shall be Saved.”

Luke 24:46-47 Repentance for Forgiveness of “Sins ”

The Great Commission

Matthew 28:18-20 Baptism is the central theme of this portion of the text in becoming a disciple of Jesus

Mark 16:15-16 Baptism has everything to do with our being saved

Acts 22:16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’

I Pet. 3:21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also-not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God .It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Luke 24:46-47 Repentance coupled with forgiveness of sins is seen in Acts 2:38; Matt 26:28

4. We Must Go To Continue To “Teach”

Matthew 28:18-20 Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.”

Mark 16:15-16 “he who has Disbelieved shall be Condemned.”

Luke 24:46-47 “Forgiveness of Sins .”

Matthew 28:18-20

  • We must teach all that Christ commands

Jn. 12:48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day

Matt 24:13-14 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Mark 16:15-16

  • Not everyone will accept the gospel

Matt 7:13-14 13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Ezekiel 33:8-11 8 If I announce that an evil person is going to die but you do not warn him to change his ways so that he can save his life, then he will die, still a sinner, and I will hold you responsible for his death. 9 If you do warn an evil person and he doesn't stop sinning, he will die, still a sinner, but your life will be spared.”

Individual Responsibility

10 The Lord spoke to me. “Mortal man,” he said, “repeat to the Israelites what they are saying: ‘We are burdened with our sins and the wrongs we have done. We are wasting away. How can we live?’ 11 Tell them that as surely as I, the Sovereign Lord, am the living God, I do not enjoy seeing sinners die. I would rather see them stop sinning and live. Israel, stop the evil you are doing. Why do you want to die?

Luke 24:46-47

  • Forgiveness is only available to those who obey Jesus. Heb. 5:8-9

“Go Ye Means Me”

We Must Preach To A Lost And Dying World

This Command Is For Every Disciple Of Christ

Without The Preaching Of The Gospel Souls Are Lost

Do You Know Someone Who Needs To Hear The Gospel?

WHAT DO YOU THINK? - If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?
