TEXT: Colossians 1:9-14 NLT
9 So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy,12 always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. 13 For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, 14 who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
I. LIVE A LIFE THAT HONORS GOD.
A. “ALL WISDOM and SPIRITUAL UNDERSTANDING” It enables the Christian to bear commendable fruit.

1. By knowing God's will we Avoid Spiritual Destruction.
Hosea 4:6 - My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
2. We Are Also Equipped to Accomplish Great Spiritual Work in our life when WE are filled with Knowledge Of God's Will!
B. LIFE WILL PLEASE GOD & DIRECTED BY AN ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE.
1 Thessalonians 4:1-3 NIV - 1 As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. 2 For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. 3 it is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality.
II. LIVE A LIFE THAT PRODUCES GOOD FRUIT.
A. FRUITFUL IN CHARACTER.
Colossians 1:10 NLT - Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better
Matthew 12:33 - Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.
God’s number Concern. Is for all fruit to be good -"the fruit of “Righteousness”
James 3:18 NIV - Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
Matthew 7:19 NIV - Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
B. FRUITFUL IN IMPACT.
John 15:5 - “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
III. LIVE A LIFE THAT GROWS.
A. GROW IN KNOWLEDGE OF GOD.
“And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” - Colossians 1:10
B. GROW IN STRENGTH.
“Being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.” - Colossians 1:11
IV. LIVE A LIFE THAT NEVER GIVES UP
A. ENDURANCE.
“.So that you may have great endurance and patience.” - Colossians 1:11
B. PATIENCE.
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” - Ephesians 4:2
Being Rooted In Jesus Leads to..
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. - Col. 2:6-7
CHALLENGE:
36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.- Jn. 3:36
