I Have a Good News:

Do you know that you are saved? Do you know that you are going to heaven? These two questions are the same yet you can ask someone if they are saved and they will say yes, but if you ask them if they are going to heaven, their answer changes into I hope so. I believe that this is unfortunate that many Christians do not feel secure in their salvation, do not have a biblical hope of heaven, the desire and earnest expectation of heaven. As Christians we are to confident, not arrogant, but assured of the salvation we have.

1 John 5.13 has John saying. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.

All of us have experienced the consequences of being lost.

  • The anxiety of living without salvation.
  • The emptiness of living without God.
  • The hopelessness of living without hope.

Eph. 2:8-9 NIV - 8 For it is by Grace you have been Saved, Through Faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the Gift of God. 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

There are several questions that must be asked.

And the correct answers must be given before salvation will be realized.

I. WHAT MUST A PERSON HAVE TO BE SAVED? First of all, a person must feel the needs of salvation in the presence situation in life.

He must be ready to pray the only prayer a sinner can pray and expect to be heard. "God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13). A man must recognize that there is a God-that he has sinned against God-and that God is the Moral Governor of the world. He must acknowledge that God is merciful-that man has no merit, of his own- and he must trust in God's forgiveness.

Let nothing hold you back

Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

A. You Must Have A Desire To Be Saved. Acts 2:14-47

14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.

23 This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men,[b] put him to death by nailing him to the cross

36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off-for all whom the Lord our God will call.

When we truly desire to be saved:

We will want to know what to do, and we will gladly do it.

B. You Must have a Willingness to Learn.

We must be taught how to be saved (Mat 28:18-20; Jn 6:45).

The gospel must be taught, received, and obeyed. 1 Cor 15:1-4

15 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

II. WHAT MUST A PERSON DO TO BE SAVED?

{Prime Example - Acts 16:25-33} 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”

29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.

{A question asked + an answer given + obedient sinners = salvation.}

A. We Must Hear the Gospel.

B. We Must Believe - have faith (Heb 11:6; Jn 8:24; James 2:24).

C. We Must Repent (Luk 13:3; Acts 17:30; 2 Cor 7:10).death.

D. We Must Confess our faith (Mat 10:32-33; Rom 10:9-10).

E. We Must Be Baptized.

  1. Baptism is commanded. Acts 10:48
  2. For remission of sins (Acts 2:38).
  3. To be saved (Mk 16:16).
  4. To wash away sins (Acts 22:16).
  5. It is the only way to get into Christ (2 Tim 2:10; Gal 3:27).

Conclusion

If you want to be saved because you realize you are lost and will obey Jesus

  1. Then salvation is yours...
  2. And all the blessing in Christ.
