THINK ABOUT: It is God's Will that His children be blessed both physically and spiritually!
Today, Message is on God’s mirror and in this mirror doesn’t lie- It reflects us as WE Really Are. Yes, the Bible God’s mirror for our Soul so by using this wonderful mirror WE CAN LEARN A LOTS pertaining our own character and the needs of our souls.
According to John Wooden: Be more concern with your character, than with your reputation because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.
So fellow brethren, as we are going to use God’s Mirror we will see ourselves as God sees us.
Scripture Reading: James 1:21-25GNT: 21 So get rid of every filthy habit and all wicked conduct. Submit to God and accept the word that he plants in your hearts, which is able to save you.
22 Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead, put it into practice. 23 If you listen to the word, but do not put it into practice you are like people who look in a mirror and see themselves as they are. 24 They take a good look at themselves and then go away and at once forget what they look like. 25 But if you look closely into the perfect law that sets people free, and keep on paying attention to it and do not simply listen and then forget it, but put it into practice-you will be blessed by God in what you do.
What Is the Function of Mirror?
I. It Reveals the "Origin" of the Soul.
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being
Briefly Distinctions:
1. Spirit- gives man “God-consciousness” the ability to communicate with God. The Spirit (Greek " Pneuma")
In Numbers 16:22, Moses and Aaron, ".fell upon their faces and said, 'O God, God of the spirits of all flesh, when one man sins, will you be angry with the entire congregation?'" This verse names God as the God of the spirits that are possessed by all humanity. Notice also that it mentions the flesh (body) of all mankind, connecting it with the spirit.
For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well (Ps. 139:13-14 NASB).
2. Soul- gives man “Self-Consciousness” the ability to know himself. The Soul (Greek, "psyche")
Genesis 2:7 states that Man was created as a "living soul." The soul consists of the mind (which includes the conscience), the will and the emotions. The soul and the spirit are mysteriously tied together and make up what the Scriptures call the "heart."
The writer of Proverbs declares, "Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life." (Prov. 4:23 NASB). We see here that the "heart" is central to our emotions and will.
Paul, looking intently at the Council, said, "Brethren, I have lived my life with a perfectly good conscience before God up to this day" (Acts 23:1 NASB)
3. Body- gives man “World Consciousness” the ability to know the world thru senses.-- The Body (Greek, "soma")
This is the entire material or physical structure of a human being -- it is the physical part of a person.
The Apostle Paul, writing to the Romans again connects the body, the mind (soul) and the spirit.
Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (Romans 12:1-2 NASB).
For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body (1 Cor. 6:20).
God Created Human Being.
1. There is a physical difference between man and other created things.
1 Corinthians 15:39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fish, and another of birds.
2. There is also a Difference in Spirit.- Eccl 3:21 Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?
Zech 12:1 The burden of the word of the LORD against Israel. Thus says the
LORD, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and
forms the spirit of man within him:
What the Bible says the Spirit is
Prov 20:27 KJV The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
Matt 10:28 "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
II. God’s Mirror Reveals the "Value" of the Soul.
What is the difference between the soul and spirit of man?
Answer: The soul and the spirit are the two primary immaterial aspects that Scripture ascribes to humanity. It can be confusing to attempt to discern the precise differences between the two. The word “spirit” refers only to the immaterial facet of humanity. Human beings have a spirit, but we are not spirits. However, in Scripture, only believers are said to be spiritually alive (1 Corinthians 2:11; Hebrews 4:12; James 2:26), while unbelievers are spiritually dead (Ephesians 2:1-5; Colossians 2:13).
Soul and spirit are so closely related that it is sometimes difficult to distinguish accurately between them, there seems to be only one logical conclusion: namely, that “soul” and “spirit” are not the same. The Bible does make a distinction.
Man is a triune being because he is created in the image of God. “God said, Let us make man in Our image”
Matt 16:26 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
A. God placed enough value on the soul that he made it so that man couldn't destroy it. (Matt 10:28)
Eccl 12:7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.
III. God’s Mirror reveals the "disfigurement" of the Soul.
A. It is Called "works of the flesh".
Galatians 5:19-21
B. It begins to be disfigured as an attitude of mind.
2 Tim 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
IV. God’s Mirror also reveals the "destiny" of the Soul.
Since God owns it, the soul will go to one of two places;
Heaven or Hell! (Matt 25:31-46)
Conclusion:
What do you see in God's mirror?
Two Places For All Eternity
