Last Sunday message: “THE ATTITUDES TOWARD GIVING”
Believe it or not, our attitude toward giving can say a lot about you as a Christian. THE WAY WE THINK ABOUT GOD DETERMINES THE WAY WE THINK ABOUT MONEY.
Yes, fellow brethren I want you to know that through you can make a better Church by being a good member of God’s family. Your dedication, commitment, your interest in our mission, having the Spirit of sacrifice, a willingness to serve, and a burden for a dying world sharing God’s message in order to make the church always be better and great.
The church is looking for a better methods God is looking for better men. E. M Bounds
There Is a Saying: If Your Presence Can’t Add Value To My Life Your ABSENCE Will Make No Difference!
Someone has said, "If you want good government, be a good citizen." Yes, it’s really true and even the GOP Republican Nominee Donald Trump it says WE MAKE AMERICAN GREAT AGAIN. From his view U.S. is totally mess up, corrupt, and violence is rampant.
So my point is if we want the NYCC, a great and better Church, the place to begin is within ourselves. Remember and don’t forget that Jesus died for the church, to make it the best that it possible getting glory and honor that church and that church is you.
Always bear in mind that YOU’RE SPECIAL and we can’t deny the fact that the Bible clearly stated.
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Pet. 2:9 NIV
Today, here I am and I want to look at some things that will energize you to serve to make the church NYCC the best that it possibly can be- THROUGH YOU BRETHREN.
I. If You Want the Church to Be always Better and great Realizing that YOU ARE IMPORTANT.
A. Your Presence Is Important. 1 Cor. 12:20-26 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
What Does Your Membership (part) in this Local Church Mean to You?
MEMBERSHIP REALITY. Accountability. Commitment.
The reality is we have often thought of membership like belonging to a select Institution, “Membership has its Privileges.”
Membership in a local church has spiritual purposes that give meaning and spiritual accomplishment to our lives. While we are sure not everything as a Christian can be or should be defined only by the local church, there are significant expectations the Lord puts on us in the local church.
In fact, in 1 Corinthians Paul doesn’t say the church is like a body. He says the church is a body. The phrase he uses to describe the individual connectedness is we are “members of the body.”
What Are You Contributing to this Church As a Member of it? To tell you honestly any organization in the world including the church or family to be better and great will start with us.
B. The Lord Is Depending On You To Do Your Part - Eph. 4:15, 16. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. NIV
ARE DOING YOUR PART? Many are not doing the work God has called them to do. Are You? THE GREATEST and the most important work on this earth today is the WORK OF GOD!
You Have Your Part. YOU ARE CALLED TO HAVE A VITAL AND NECESSARY PART IN THAT WORK. You probably do not remotely realize the tremendous responsibility that God has laid upon our shoulders, because you have not yet perceived what great things God is doing, and will do through HIS CHURCH.
This work requires the diligent and zealous labor of all those in the Church, and yet many of you are not doing your part! Many of you do not realize the seriousness of the time. You do not realize your particular part in completing the work that God has given us to do.
We know too many sit on the side-lines and criticize those who are doing the work, while they fail miserably to perform what God has called them personally to do. This should not be! This is not a one-man work, nor is it alone the work of God's ministry, nor the work of pastor or elders.
It is the responsibility and work of the complete body of Christ -- the whole Church of God. No one man, no group of men, no local congregation can alone perform the tremendous task which God has laid before us. It requires the power of the Spirit of God within all of us working zealously together to perform this mighty task.
Each of us has a part in the work of the church, just as each body part has a function relative to the whole - 1 Cor. 12:14-24.
The Lord Is Depending On You To Help the Church Grow and Function.
II. IF YOU WANT THE NYCC TO BE BETTER YOU MUST DO SOMETHING
A. You Need To Be Kind All People. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, passion, and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort. 32 Instead, be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ Eph. 4:31-32 GNT
As Member at NYCC We Need to Learn to Not Only Ask What Can I Do to Help, But When Can I Do It?
B. You Can Help the NYCC BY Building (BULDING) It Up Instead Of CRITIZING What Is Trying To Do.
10 We must not complain, as some of them did-and they were destroyed by the Angel of Death. 1 Cor. 10:10 GNT
One of the best ways you can help the church Is DOING YOUR PART AS A MEMBER.
A church that grows is a church that is concerned and really loves the lost - Mk. 10:22
CONCLUSION:
1. A better church begins with you and the time to begin is now!
2. A Call to Salvation:
Have you ever been challenged to commit your life to Jesus Christ?
The Bible calls this salvation. It has been said that . . .
The Bible is a Book about real people with real problems who found God found purpose found God’s direction and found God’s strength to overcome.
For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation. 2 Cor. 6:2 NIV
